1. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files that websites store in your browser and that are sent back to their servers on subsequent visits. Local storage is a browser storage area whose data stays on your device and is not automatically transmitted to servers with each request. Both can be managed and deleted from your browser settings.
In its current version, Palermo Holiday House does not directly install first-party profiling or advertising cookies and does not carry out profiling through this website. Third-party services, where activated, may use their own cookies or technologies, as described in the following sections and in their respective notices. Google Analytics is not currently installed.
2. Current status of the website
Following the technical work of July 2026: fonts are hosted locally on our domain, the presentation video loads only on request in privacy-enhanced mode, and no analytics or advertising tool is active. The only third-party services that may set cookies are described below.
3. Technically necessary tools
The website hosting (Netlify) records server-side technical logs needed to deliver and secure the service; these are not cookies. The website sets no technical cookies of its own.
For cookies and tools that are strictly necessary for the operation or security of the service, prior consent is not normally required, without prejudice to the obligation to provide transparent information. The qualification nevertheless depends on the actual characteristics and purposes of the tool.
4. Smoobu booking engine
The five homepages (one per language) automatically load the Smoobu booking module (Smoobu GmbH), served from a third-party domain (login.smoobu.com / booking.smoobu.com).
Data observed in the technical test (browser developer tools, July 2026): the service set the third-party cookie cf_clearance on the Smoobu/Cloudflare service domain, with Secure and HttpOnly attributes, SameSite=None, a cross-site or partitioned cookie where supported by the browser. In the July 2026 test, the browser showed a persistent expiry date. The actual duration may vary depending on the configuration adopted by Smoobu/Cloudflare and on browser settings.
Provider documentation: Cloudflare describes cf_clearance as a cookie used to attest that security and anti-abuse checks have been passed; its duration and configuration may vary according to the settings applied by the booking engine provider and to the browser.
The classification of this cookie for consent purposes remains subject to final legal validation: this policy will be updated should the outcome differ. For more details: Smoobu privacy policy · Cloudflare cookies documentation.
5. PayPal
Direct bookings are paid via PayPal within the Smoobu booking flow. PayPal cookies are set only when the user voluntarily proceeds to payment, as described in the PayPal privacy statement.
6. YouTube video
The presentation video on the homepage uses a local preview (an image hosted on our domain). Thanks to this solution, no request is made to YouTube before the user clicks. After the click, the player and its resources are loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, the privacy-enhanced mode of the YouTube player, and Google may use cookies or similar technologies according to its privacy policy and the user's settings (see also how Google uses cookies).
7. Google Fonts
The typefaces (DM Serif Display and Mulish) are hosted locally on our domain: browsing generates no requests to fonts.googleapis.com or fonts.gstatic.com, and no data is sent to Google to display the fonts.
8. Google Analytics 4
Google Analytics 4 is not installed at this stage: no _ga cookie is currently present on the website. Any future activation of property G-TDJV25RGCL will take place only after a compliant consent system is implemented, and this Cookie Policy will be updated at the same time with the service's cookies, durations and details.
9. Managing cookies in your browser
You can view, block or delete cookies (including third-party ones) from your browser settings: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all offer dedicated controls. Restricting third-party cookies does not prevent you from browsing this site; it may affect the booking module.
10. Updates
This Cookie Policy reflects the actual state of the website as of the date shown and will be updated whenever the services used change (in particular upon any activation of Google Analytics 4 and of the consent management system).
